Mid-Century Moodboard Madness

Finishes_700x222I am getting antsy to start turing the construction site into a home and it is kind of hard to picture where our furniture and finishes are going to go around the scaffolding and sawdust.  So, I will moodboard and share some of the inspirations and elements that are going to turn the workzone into our home.

• 1 I put out a call for help this week on the instagram to help decide what color to paint the trim. Should we paint the trim the color of the wall or the color of the ceiling.  Scott and I are leaning towards the ceiling.

• 2 The stain color for the doors has been chosen.  Special Walnut from Minwax won out even after several trips to the Sherman Williams store to trying to mix the perfect shade.

• 3  Love that simple round door pull for the pocket doors.

• 4 My color inspiration.

• 5 There you can see the Cork floor color with the paint chips we have chosen.

• 6 Utterly Beige on the walls

• 7 Nuthatch on the paneling.

• 8 Nifty Turquoise stain that is going on the front door.  I had Sherwin Williams mix that up with their gel stains.  If you want to tint a stain gel stains are the way to go.

• 10 The Front Door that is actually hanging in our house.  Well it was hanging and now propped up agains the wall in the garage which makes me nervous.

• 11 love that clock from Joybird.

• 12 & 14 Joybird has some amazing couches. We will have them delivered when we move in.

• 13 We found this lamp on Lamps Plus last year and they are still in the box in storage.

• 15 The dining area off the kitchen in front of the deck sliders is perfect for a classic tulip table and chairs.

• 19 Ikea Akrum cabinets in the Grey foil finish.

• 20 The backsplash tile that I am absolutely in love with. Tile Sensations in Knoxville hooked me up with that tile and bright idea to cut it up into this pattern.  It is going to be fun laying this one out for installation.

I have a few stools for the counter height bar in the island. Haven’t made a decision in those yet.  Let me know in the comments what your favorite is.

• 26 -27 our actual bed and the Architectural mesh that is going along the stair railing and opening.

• 28 the tile pickings for the master bath and hall bath.

• 29 the bench that I think may go in the master bedroom along with our floor lamp.

FamilyRoom_700x337

• 30 & 31 George Nelson saucer lamp is going above our Dining Room #34 table in the Family Room / Dining room.

• 32 & 35 are a couple of sectionals that we are eyeing for the Family room.

• 33 The Ball chair that Liam is excited to sit in and spin.

• 36 With this room also functioning as Liam’s playroom we need lots of storage and IKEA’s Besta storage is perfect and will not cover too much of that Eichler siding on the wall.

GuestRoom_645x248

The Guest Room is a work in progress and we have the bed room furniture that is a 50’s style Bellaire with a real sputnik looking legs with the red leather bed #37.

I wanted to go with the yellow and grey color pallet and I found a couple sample fabrics #38 & #40 at Short Sheet Fabrics  , I love that place.  This would look great with the Jonathan Adler sconces # 39 we have for that room.  I will have to rethink the color pallet to make it work with that bed.  Red and turquoise is a hot color combination these days.  Maybe I will try that.
