Week 14 – Roughin’ in

Week 14 saw three sets of sub-contractors on site.  Electrical, HVAC, and plumbers were all working on their part of the plan.  Questions were coming hard and fast.  Where do you want these sconces?  Where do you want these outlets?  Do you want one vent in here or two?  Are these faucets surface mount or wall mount?  Where do you want these fart fans?  Do you want this switch to control that light?  I have to admit, I was a bit overwhelmed.  Luckily, the plan addressed 90% of the questions, but that still left a ton.

The “sparkies” as my australian born contractor calls them, got to work fast.  Here’s what the 225 amp service is looking like

Rough-in of the in-wall faucets.  They look GREAT but the spout is over 11″ long!  Our sinks are only 17″ deep so we are now reconsidering our sink and cabinet options

Fart fan #2.  Nice to see the exhaust going out to the eave.  When remodeling our previous house I discovered the fans were just sucking the odors into the floor truss cavity!

Master bath exhaust fan.  I hated having to put it in the ceiling but the codes called for the fan to be at least three feet from the shower

week14_895

Liam’s Kohler cast iron tub.  He as already sat in it of course.  The 2×4 spacing is for a “faux” wall we are installing that will include two 48″ x 12″ shelves.  One for the plethora of toys, and a higher one for all the product when he gets older

Washer plumbing work looks great.  Unfortunately, it’s in the wrong spot.  The plan got reversed so the driveway could come from the east and the washer and dryer got flipped.  Dryer was on left side and washer door is not reversible.  They’ll have to redo this next week

More rough-in this week.  We are also going to work with a local cabinet company for the kitchen island, laundry, and have them look at the master bath vanities

Thank you so much for sharing the Palamino house build information – I’m looking to build this same house in Texas (am in the very early stages of the process). I will be watching this blog as you make progress to completion! Best wishes.
